I tried (unsuccessfully) to create a blog some time last year (or was it before; time flies and all that jazz).
However I have decided to make another go of it, and this time I'm going to do it about something I truly love... film. Well, to be more precise, film, T.V, theatre, literature, etc...
I was extremely lucky this weekend to have been invited to be an extra on the set of the new series of '24'. Despite the 3am alarm call and the stress of finding the actual building, I had the most amazing day and it only served to intensify my love for all things to do with the moving image (plus getting to see Kiefer Sutherland in the flesh wasn't bad either).
I don't want to be a teaching assistant, or even a teacher, for the rest of my life. I had been kidding myself that I liked it enough to make it a permanent career that I could truly enjoy until my retirement. I love film and all things associated with it, that's where my passion lies. Don't get me wrong, the experience of being an extra hasn't suddenly turned me into a luvvie. It was just watching the crew work that interested me. I don't want to be an actor but I want to write about them, get to know them, and then trash their films if they're a pile of crap (they can't all be perfect).
So I've decided to use this blog to write about films, to review them and dissect them. I hope to share my thoughts on what I like and of course what I hate.
And the name... my boyfriend thinks I can be quite a snob about films (especially Hollywood remakes of foreign films; I'm sure that will come up at some point). I wouldn't say I'm a snob but I guess that's something people will be able to decide for themselves.
