Ross Noble - Tangentleman |
It was another great show from the king of random musings as Ross Noble took to the stage at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend.
No topic was taboo as all the usual subjects of sex, religion and even the royals were covered and ridiculed.
Within seconds of coming out on stage, Noble was interacting with the crowd and mimicking the estuary accent of the audience. It probably should be offensive but there was not a straight face in the crowd as you can't help but laugh at the fact that he more than likely got a few people spot on.
The Geordie comic is an endless tangent marvel (hence the title of the current tour) and the audience are taken through owl love making and squirrel deities via flag pole insurance (much funnier than it sounds).
Ross is also a physical comedian, rolling around the floor like a kid in a disco.
The show was funny from start to finish and, at over two hours long, worth every penny paid. The time flew by and I could have easily stayed for an extra hour or two.
In the foyer there was an array of merchandise whose proceeds were being donated to Riders for Health, a charity that Noble has been working with for a little while. Unlike other comedians, he does not advertise his charity involvement, nor does he compromise his artistic integrity (no insurance or bingo adverts for him).
All in all, last night's show was jaw-achingly hilarious and I would thoroughly recommend catching one of his shows or, at the very least, buying some of his DVDs.
Check www.rossnoble.co.uk for tour dates and check out www.riders.org for more information about the aforementioned charity.
